STEVE GETS PERSONAL!
It's October of 2002 and I can't believe it. The past couple of years have been a whirlwind of events in my personal and professional life. This website is filled with the products of my professional endeavors, so I think I'll use this gallery page to concentrate on some personal stuff -- if anybody out there is interested!
Two big life changes have happened to me recently. I got married to my lovely Catherine Rhodes and we had a gorgeous baby boy, Alexander. It's coming up on his first birthday, and that just blows my mind. For all of you who have no children, you can't know what that does to change you. It's a cliche to say that your priorities change, but it's also a fact. A fact that can't easily be described to someone who hasn't had children. I recommend it. Adult humans don't experience too many things that truly promote "growth." Having a real dependent is one of those things.

Anyway, Catherine and I pretty much eloped when we got married, but this past April decided to re-new our vows in front of our family & friends in a "traditional" wedding scenario. We strayed a little from regular tradition in that our wedding parties were mixed genders (for example, my "Best Man" was a woman). We also wrote our own vows and our officiant was my our good friend, Rob Tokar. It was Rob who introduced us, after all, so we thought it appropriate. Plus he's a damn good public speaker! It was also nice that Alex was there with us, decked out in a snazzy white tuxedo.
The wedding & reception were great fun. And very meaningful. We are lucky to have such supportive friends and family. I only regret that a few people (like my brother Jack) couldn't make the trip.
In the future, I'll post more photos. As new parents, we've got a million of them to share! I also have great photos that I've collected over the years from my travels and experiences in the comics biz. |
